Behavioral Aspects of Project Management Paper Essay
Behavioral Aspects of Project Management Paper - Essay Example Establishing mutual norms and assumptions of behavior in organization, culture therefore influences the selection, priorities and ultimate success of projects. Manifested in its key elements, such as ceremonies, rituals, stories and symbols, culture can encourage certain projects, running the project on time and within budget, close team cooperation and commitment to project goals. For example, the company can hold an annual ceremony to recognize and reward the most successful team of the year or the best team that completed the project strictly on schedule and within budget. Such ceremonies then become a part of the organization's culture, which in turn influences the future projects' selection and success. One of the major components of team commitment is organizational citizenship behaviors (OCBs). "OCBs are acts that promote the organization's interest, but are not formally a part of any person's documented job requirements. They include behaviors such as volunteering for assignments, staying late to finish a task, or voicing opinion on critical organizational issues" (Wagner and Hollenbeck, 2005, p. 144).

Use of Humour in Ligeti's Le Grand Macabre Essay
Use of Humour in Ligeti's Le Grand Macabre - Essay Example Ligeti uses parody throughout the opera, as well as related techniques such as 'quotation, distorted quotation, ... and pastiche' (Searby, 2010, p.171). This parody is combined with the mixture of 'a number of contrasting musical elements' as diverse as flamenco, a church hymn, and ragtime to further undercut the seriousness of the music (Searby, 2010, p.71). Ultimately the effect of these musical techniques is a kind of incongruity which makes listeners laugh as they struggle to make sense of the mixed-together styles. Additionally, the parody of more serious works invites listeners to compare the opera to those other works as they listen. Outside of musical parody and pastiche, a good deal of the humor comes from the 'scenario of the opera itself,' which is very 'heavy-handed' and comes in a 'fast, sort of manic fashion'. The scenario, which focuses among other things on people who want to have sex constantly and someone who wants to destroy the world, is clearly humorous, even if it is not a happy kind of humor. As John Morreall points out, two of the things which make us laugh are incongruity or the unexpected, and ' feelings of superiority over other people'. One example of both kinds of humor, complete with heavy-handedness, in Le Grand Macabre is how the astronomer's wife asks for a good lover and is then killed because the sex she gets from Nekrotzar is so rough. While this should not really be funny, it is funny because we can feel superior to her and also do not expect sex to lead to death.

Mitigating unintended results Organizations must ensure they use competent staff in carrying out the online procedures (Hopkins & Markham, 2003). My Teacher, My Hero Essay Example for Free
My Teacher, My Hero Essay When talking about our own teachers and mentors, anyone would be glad to thank them, especially those who are successful and those who learned a great lesson from them. But, are teachers really that great? Arenââ¬â¢t they just a bunch of people teaching everyday? The people who are always giving a lot of homeworks and projects, making our life hard? Teachers are great. They teach us in all ways they could. They guide us through different challenges. They act as light when weââ¬â¢re on darkness. Theyââ¬â¢re affection strengthens students. Theyââ¬â¢re patience are unbelievable. For even though, we, students are acting childishly, they forgive us. Theyââ¬â¢re like a second mom to us. And especially, they love us like a true mother. Once, when I was still young, I had a very kind and loving teacher. And for me, she was the reason why I am here in my spot today. She was the building block of my knowledge. Sheââ¬â¢s my teacher on kindergarten. Sheââ¬â¢s strict, yes, but still very affectionate. She was the one who discovered Iââ¬â¢m myopic. After discovering this, she told it to my mom and I was able to see the world clearly. She was also the one who always guides me through everything. She taught me how to read, write, count, and how to be strong in every circumstance I face. She taught me how to meet friends. I learned many lessons from her. She always taps my head whenever I learned something new. And in that small gesture, I know how much her affection is for me. Sheââ¬â¢s a person whom I can ask help from anytime I want. Sheââ¬â¢s a person willing to help a lost child to make her a successful one. And Iââ¬â¢m very thankful to her. She was like my hero once and I know sheââ¬â¢ll forever be one. Thanks to her, my parents discovered Iââ¬â¢m myopic. Thanks to her, I learned how to make new friends. Thanks to her, Iââ¬â¢ve been a good girl. Thanks to her, I learned how to eat veggies. And especially thanks to her, for being my hero, who saves me from any circumstance that surrounds me. I owe her so much yet all I can do is to thank her, to study hard, and to become a successful person someday, for her to be proud of me. If not because of you, I wonââ¬â¢t be here where I am today. Thank you My Teacher, My Hero! I salute you, and I will always do.
